Neonatal diseases is the leading cause of death in most African countries, irregardless of age or gender. Prematurity accounts for most newborn deaths, and most of these deaths could be prevented with currently available, cost-effective interventions. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Arusha Lutheran Medical Centre is changing this story. Our outcomes demonstrate that survival of even the smallest baby is possible. 
This NICU is a place where heaven bends to meet human frailty.
